Happy 2011 and I'm back!
Been almost 3 weeks since I'm back from Taiwan! And together with me, I brought back many interesting experiences (*almost died while in Ali Shan, uncontrollable bladder, adults use K**kers brand too, drying after showering with face towel is possible, etc.) along. Park Taipei Hotel was indeed as good as it mentioned on the tripadvisor.com website. Kenting Chateau was just as good, if not better!
Woke up uber early that morning and Dad sent me to Changi Airport T1 for my Cathay Pacific CX flight to Taipei via HK. My first time on a transit flight. Quite excited really, espeically when I get to see 2 boarding passes being issued to me all at once.
On board CX714, we were sniffing like crazy. CW commented that the plane was dusty espeically along the windows. Other than that, the plane had a similar flight entertainment system to SQ, except that there was no Video-on-Demand which meant that I could not pause or play as and when I wanted it. Before long, meal time...

And I got myself "Chicken with Rice"

while the rest of the peeps got "Fish with Pasta".
I'm not too sure if my standards were really high, but the chicken had quite a bit of fatty meat. Overall, it was alright though. Something I really liked about the inflight food was the fact that Chinese and Japanese Green Tea are served instead of the usual English tea with sugar or skimmed milk.
After the 3 hr ++ flight, we finally touched down at HK airport. The weather was quite misty and it was 10 degrees! Whoots! 10 deg in HK meant that Taipei would be alot colder. This, I wasn't so much prepared... Sheesh.
Upon arrival, we cleared the messy security check again to get to the Boarding area. Plane got delayed for an hour and we had went to this Priority Pass Lounge to relax and make use of our very exclusive Priority Pass Card.

We almost missed our flight! At 615pm, we ran to our boarding gate. Managed to reach 5 min before the departure time.
Gate Lady: Hello, are u Mr Tan from Singapore? (smiling sweetly and showing her polite side)
ZG: yeah, ya... (laughed and laughed)
Gate Lady: NEXT TIME DUN BE LATE.
ZG: HAHAHA!!! (laughed and ran thru the aerobridge after she checked my boarding pass)
The second plane was slightly less dusty. We were given this Hot BBQ sauce pork bread or something. As much as I usually do not consume pork, this was a waste if I have missed this.
Arrived in Taoyuan Airport at about 8pm and almost couldn't clear immigration thanks to my high body temperature detected in their infra red scanner. Went directly to Park Taipei in a cab before proceeding to Rao He night Market for our dinner/supper.
Our day sorta ended there as it was really late into the night when we got back to the hotel.
Next morning, the weather was darn cold. It was so good to sleep in... but I forced myself out of bed... Now to think of it, should have just asked CW to help buy breakfast back to Hotel.

This was our breakfast on our first day in Park Taipei. We purchased the above from 永合豆浆 which was somewhere near our hotel. Had to do it as our first day does not include the Hotel Breakfast.

Okay,I must deviate a bit here. I got so much to talk about and if i were to go through so slowly like what I'm going through now, I think it would take like another 100 hours at least to finish writing my entire trip.
So in short, it was fun and I reached home safely. Period.
I will update more again in the next entry (I think).
Though it's been 3 weeks. It's still quite hard adjusting back to life in office. GRARH. And curses... I'm back to taking Digital Comms Module after my dear ECE department rejected my cross faculty module. Think it must be fate that really wanted me to do digital comms. ARGH. Can't avoid that.
To top it up, I heard wireless network protocols module which I took last year - the lecturer decided to drop the project work for it and reduce the course content. WTH.@#$%^&*(!@#$%^&*. Such unfairness. GRARH. Sickening.
Ah wells. Like any other module, I will survive. Somehow. ARGH. At least I didn't go for Coding Theory.
Looking on the +ve side, it's another year! And CNY is coming soon! HEH! Had Astons at this Mapletree place near HP Alexandra road last Fri to celebrate Vincent's birthday. Thereafter, we went to Jen's place for Board Games! It was really nice chilling out! :)
Okay back to travel: I'm thinking of like going Egypt or what this year. But honestly, I'm not too certain too. but wherever I'm going, it's going to be a very quiet affair. I learnt that everyone demands something if they know you go overseas. So I'm keeping it low this year. This is also to prevent funny questions from some people like "eh why u never ask me along" kind-of-questions. This I also donno how to answer. Maybe the next time some bugger asks me this, I shall ask the same qn back. This should get them to diam diam for a while.
