state of shock for statistical quality control

Had 2 exams recently and I must admit that none of them turned up in my favour. The only difference is that there are 2 different levels of expectations for these 2 papers and thus resulting in different degrees of disappointment.

Didn't want to really lament on the EE2010 module, but today's ST3235 just had to get me bursting out. Honestly, I expected and heard that the lecturer is going to set a tough paper for this module since most of us scored over 30 out of 40 for mid term test and in almost every other assignment and even project. However, as much as I tried the previous years' papers, they can only be that difficult to a certain degree. Thus, I was misled and felt ever confident for the final examinations....

Little did I know...

Question 1 was managable and in fact, relatively simple.

Question 2 onwards, the story becomes so skewed that it becomes a nightmare to even think back on what I attempted to answer. So, I'm not even going to describe it here. Perhaps I should have S/U this module and hopefully i still can get a S.

After the exam, I literally heard a "SIGH" of not relief but anticipation of going to be "dead-meat". Yeah, I know if everyone finds it tough then... BUT.... the THING IS: I know the class standard with the mid term test and even their projects and assignment.

Now I have second thoughts of even attempting IE2130 which is rather similar to this module. And I think I might need days to recover from this shock.

Just let me rest, in peace.

wasted my time today

Wasted few hrs today trying to arrange for some "help" with some lecturer and ended up being insulted instead. If I'm so smart and am able to answer all questions, then I would be sitting in that chair in the office drawing a few K of salary each month and standing in front of the LT giving those lectures.

It is precisely why I haven't attained that level of knowledge that I'm unable to do that and that explains why I have to arrange a time to clarify some information. If everything is done simply by either searching the internet for answers or even reading off from the newspapers which caters information to the public with at least a "Grade 5 standard", then perhaps there isn't any need for any lectures or tutorials at all. Everyone should "self-learn" since only a "Good University teaches and a great university transforms" and whenever they need help, source for books or information by oneself. Sure, I would gladly do this if I have all the time in the world. Unfortunately, 3 mths is all I have for each module.

And for those who are going into teaching in future, don't be so arrogant and leave your students in the lurch to source for their answers, especially when they have made an effort to clarify matters. Sure, you may lead them to the answers through asking them questions, but.... at the end of the day, just make sure that the session is a fruitful one.

Just dont behave like this bugger whom I met up today where valuable hours are lost unnecessarily.

router again...

Sometimes I do think that technology is really not helping make my life better; it's worse. Now, it infuriates me whenever the damn modem or some internet connection has some problems cos' inevitably it meant that I would have to troubleshoot manually. This equates to a pure waste of my time.

Anyway, (as usual) the stupid router in my home broke down again and I'm currently using a some old modem which is so much more reliable and better than the newer ones. SICKENING.

I bet such lousy gadgets are available in the market currently because some engineer or so anyhow QC the product. Irritating...

So if u find me not being able to come online or whatsoever, it's not due to MSN (which is 49% of the breakdown cause) or Singnet (which takes up the other 50%) but its the damn 1% that the LINKSYS GATEWAY ROUTER IS NOT WORKING.

ANNOYING, really...

some ranting as the term comes to an end

Amazingly for every 6 people in NUS out there, 5 would have a better chance of getting things done than me. Sheesh.

I need to chill... ... This is getting absurd.

Okay, I shall end this -ve thought here.
--------------------------------------------------------------

On a lighter note, i just realised that one of my tutors for a particular module is actually an associate professor! I thought that he was just a graduate stuent till my friends and I went for some last-min help to clarify some long-overdue concepts. As this week approaches to an end, I'm glad that I would not need to stay in the labs till 9pm anymore. At least till next sem.

argh. gotta send my laser printer for servicing tml again.

Sometimes I dont know if this pragmatic society has made me so keen on competition that I can't afford to lose out. sheesh.

MNO was really a killer.

Ignore what i said if u dont get it.
