It's a Life Story

Day to day we go in cycles, trying to work life through.
And sometimes it feels like times get tough, but you just keep pushing through.
Well, it's a life story, from page to page we journey.
In the story of life, it unfolds a little everyday as we are headed on our way.
For the weak and strong, even the slightest chant, life goes on....
It's a life story.

This came to my house today.

Okay, actually she represents this:

Just don't ask how much how much it is.

Had ice cream cake last Sunday to mark my parents' birthday because I have the sudden urge to eat ice cream cos' everyone prefers ice cream cake. :) It was so delightful that I suspect I must have added a few kg to my mass. Ah wells, not that I don't wanna jog or what. It's been raining almost every second recently that it's futile to even step outta the house. So, I decided to sleep during this rainy season. :) As much as I hate to admit it, think my current input > output.
maybe the excess, (input-output), is converted to arm muscles automatically.

And for those who are bored from anything, I think this is a useful read:

screwed bio clock. (not synchronised)

It's 3am now and I'm not asleep. Biological clock is kinda screwed.

(nonsense in this paragraph)
Perhaps that's why sometimes I reply to a message, m(t), longer than usual (holding time, Th increases) as my local oscillator (LO) within is not properly synchronised with the carrier msg f0 (carrier frequency). Need to build an internal second order PLL with transfer function H(s) such that it has at least 2 zeros.
Or perhaps my body is adapting to a LCCS such that if my queue buffer is full, then it will drop the last msg from the system.

There are so many things I wanna do after my exams: swim, tan, eat, and get back my pecs. heh. Been almost 3 years since that SQ owed me a treat to Kushin Bo and its yet to be repaid. *hints hints*. Ah wells, he ain't returning to Singapore.

Need to check my set of teeth at the dentist as well. She's going to scream at me if I still don't go and visit her any time soon. Ah wells, think I need her to check my wisdom teeth as well. Heard about those really painful ordeal XY went through and even stories of using the saw to drill the teeth out? Maybe even using an axe to hack them? *shudders* My sis told me that might even end up having to STITCH the GUMS?! And my Mum told me that the pain was simply - excruciating. Obviously, before that is going to happen, I'm going to indulge in some very good food first. And I do mean very good food. For I cant believe on surviving on porridge for the next few days after the extraction. Might die from hunger.

But then again, I'm just going to let her check my set of pearly white teeth first before deciding on the next step. And perhaps I won't die of hunger lar, espeically since XY has managed to survive the Ethopian period. I shall see...

Anyone wanna attempt this horrible feat with me? =p

The ULTIMATE Module of the year goes to...

EE4103: CODING THEORY AND APPLICATIONS

--------------------------------------------

ZG: so, coding theory, how is it that you are able to clinch this once in a life time award? You even managed to win CS1102C which was believed to have made some people feel as though they were "raped over and over again" sinking on the Titanic?

EE4103: Oh simple... By nature, I am already a winner... cos' to understand me deeply, you need to be very good in Linear Algebra (including egienvalues and its vectors, rank dimension, etc.), probability theory (not the simple one mind you, more of the Markov chains, random processes, etc.) and actually, more algebra! That's why there is a topic on Galois Field when you study me! Remember the GF(q)? Oh that one is just one of the many chapters that will make your head spin and leave you very confused. And what's more? It's only chapter 3!
Chapter 1 and 2 is actually a trap to make all you sucker-punch students to choose me and when the 'W' grade is over, the nightmare begins. And it really pushes everyone further after chapter 3. ZG, im sure you have gone through it, so how's it?

ZG: .................................. EH, I took you because you I enjoyed studying OKAY! (apparently, lying to hide his v bruised ego.)

EE4103: actually i'm amazed that you even managed to survive till now. Cos for someone whose mathematics and statistics isn't very strong, taking me is like doing the impossible. Of course, my brother, EE2012, would have laid the necessary foundations to understand me and unless you have thoroughly understood the module, you would be stuck somewhere in Malaysia if we were to compare the entire learning journey as a trip from Singapore to UK.

ZG: shuddup. (-,-) I said I have no regrets already. >=(

EE4103: v good. remember huh, in exams, im going to test on your DCT (discrete cosine transform), DPCM, transform coding, convolutional codes, linear block codes, cyclic codes, RS-codes (the one u did in ur programming), Hamming's codes, linear predictive coding, BCH codes and not forgetting those in chapter 1,2 and 3. Oh and the vertibi algo. And remember huh, u can only copy how much in 2 pieces of A4 paper.

ZG: ................ just u wait man. I'm just going to understand you inside out and by then... we'll see who gets the last laugh. WAH LAU, next time when I'm over confident I just look at your notes and I think can liaoz. Enough to drain my endopines for the entire year. Get it? Just looking at you is sad enough, reading your reference book is devastating.

EE4103: good. Remember: you still have another 2 more weeks. Good luck man! You definitely need it now!

uploading some pic from my camera phone so that I can delete them

Had dinner with my parents at PS yesterday after exchanging the faulty SCV set top box. Had vegetarian set meal as I wasn't much into eating the pork-ish meat.

This is what I had in my Chinese teacup. It tasted kinda unique in the sense that there was this sweet after taste and I think the Chinese call it the 8 Treasures Tea. Oh and of course man, with such classy names for the tea, it is a NO WONDER that the total bill for that dinner amounted to... just simply... very ex. But then again, the food was good and my parents simply love to hunt for good food across Singapore. =) So, naturally, I would also benefit in some sense.

As I was walking along Harbourfront waiting for "Rendition" to start, I chanced upon this little vending machine in the washroom. I'm not going to say much on what it is, but I think you can almost infer.

Saw this pigeon that decided to sleep and I do mean sleep between the bridge linking E4 and E4A building on the same floor of the Linear Lab.

And apparently, i was bored few months back that I used my BBQ sauce to draw out some pic on my plate at home. My signature logo -- almost as well recognised as the Visa or Mastercard logo.

This was the initial testing of that darn.... ... $&*@$(@#$. And I got aplenty of shocking sensation from it + the sleepless nights + the embarrassing presentation + (some other summation terms).

And yesh, I have uploaded the photo cindy sent me (after I had praised her to the skies for almost 3 hrs).

Think that should be all. No complaints this time i guess. 1 of these days I should write a little about what I have studied and hopefully, motivate the world to read more on it --- the wonderful world of Communications. =)

My first MTV in 1998

yeah and without any doubt, this was my first MTV which I had to analyse during some CHS Media Literacy Course which I represented Pandy to go as he had something on during those days of the course. So there, Pandy, this is the MTV which you were supposed to do deep analysis in almost 10 years back. HEH.

But it was this MTV that introduced me to the world of hip hop (then) music.
I'm putting this song up now (not only for Pandy to do his deep analysis in, but) to signify that I just came out of my little prison, after much and I do mean much work in the absolutely time-consuming and irritating project module. I thought staying till 3am to do C++ coding for CS1102C was bad. Then, EE2001 came. I literally stayed awake for almost 2 days with only 3 hrs of sleep in between, debugging the crazy nonsense, messy circuits.

-------------------------------------
At last, it was over and I think I should return to the original state of ZG once again. So, if anyone thinks C++ is bad, think again. The 2001 module is going to tear you to pieces. Of course, I got to thank my group members for all their contribution into the project and it was an adventure that you fellas had gone thru with me =). Not forgetting Gelhead who formulated problems for use in my project, which is normal, since he always gives me problems.

Also, no thanx to Chris for my really embarrassing presentation today. Shouldn't elaborate more, but at least it's not going to be on youtube.com . Now to think of it, I look awfully ridiculous. ....
-------------------------------------
Wanted to watch some good movies but it seems that almost all seats are full for the evening slots. =( Moreover, I wanted to catch Rendition but wells... It has become obsolete over the weeks.
Went to vivo after that to meet up with the CCS people. It was J and SJ birthday and so had a little at Swensens there. Caught up with the group once again and had quite an enjoyable time! They never fail to amaze me! Returned home the moment the group decided to let me off for my precious sleep. Zzzz.... Will be uploading the photos as soon as Cindy sends me the very nice photo of myself. =)

Meanwhile, I'm going to have a little fun with the Tomb Raider game I took from Edward. =)=)=)=)=) Shucks and I gotta reformat my comp once again. Think there is some virus inside spreading. And it's spreading fast to my thuimbdrive too. SHEESH. For this weekend, maybe I might be heading down to Sim Lim to buy a print server to host all print jobs so that my comp need not be turned on each time to print some stuff.

Alrights, this is getting boring. I shall end here now. By the way, I just realised that Amazing Race 12 has started. Such a time to commence. SHEESH. And I also heard that TARA 2 is going to start on Nov 22. Such untimely timing. ARGH. =( But thank god for engineers, the DVD recorder is invented, so... =) =) =) Last point, I managed to unlock my sharpshooter in Bang! Howdy. =) So now u know what online games I'm hooked up with. =)

RS code which I uploaded

In the last entry, remember the part where I stated that I added the "this is a nightmare" part into the comments in BRACKETS?! Well.... My lecturer sent me an email regarding this. I dont know if he is kinda pissed from the tone of his email, but it sure sound like he was really concerned on the problems which I faced for this project which categorised this. Anyway, I have responded to his email and hope he sees things the way I see them.

At least now i know that not all NUS lecturers are meanacing.

updates on the week

Finally, I submitted the C program for the Reed Solomon codes for the encoder and decoder part.

And I guess even my comments in the description part of my uploaded file does not do me justice on what I have gone through. So, in my C program, I have come up with function names like:

void nightmare(void) // the longest function and the most difficult function
int this_is_stupid(int a) // does polynomial addition over GF(8)
void i_debugged_this_function_like_crazy(int b) // some function I was trying to debug
int look_till_wanna_cry(void) // look up table for GF(8) [addition]

hopefully my lecturer sees what I'm trying to say.

Last week, I made a trip to Funan to purchase myself a Canon Flat-Bed Scanner because of the fact that I had to upload some assignment online to the ivle. The lecturer commented that it was easier to use the computer to type equations "cos' we would just simply cut and paste equations over and over again without making mistakes of say, writing wrongly". So for my HF previous assignments, there are some gung-ho people who literally used MS words or what have you to type equations with exponent signs, etc. then convert it to some PDF file. Not bad... For me, I stayed on campus to scan my documents till like 10pm. I think I would not need to sleep already if I were to really type the solutions out.

Speaking of sleep, I had really little sleep on Thursday (2 hours) as I was rushing some stuff. Ended up sleeping on the floor in the seminar room while no one was looking. Shall not bore the world here with the mundane details, but I guess my life is quite sad (for now). =(

Nonetheless, I can only treat myself better with good food. So, last Firday, had dinner at Suki Restaurant in NUS. =)

and went to some Wywy coffee ship (not Wonderspace) for some traditional bread and butter with my dad on Sunday after purchasing my scanolite 90. =)

Oh and did I mention of my family BBQ? =) Okay, I'm feeling alot better now.

back to work
