It's my life story

After christmas and as we usher into the new year...

It's almost the end of the year and as we usher into the new year let me reminise (sorry for the terrible spelling here) on interesting events that occurred in this year:

1. My Nokia 6020 phone has been sent to the Nokia Care Centre for the "who-in-the-world" knows how many times to have it repaired... A very vexing incident indeed...

2. I was almost drowned during Tim's birthday celebration. (for those of you who are present then, think hard what happened...)

3. This year is the first time I have been to Kampong Glam, upteen times to Chinatown (on all other times of the year, except CNY) and my second time to Night Safari in my entire life. (courtesy of IPhO and my Singapore Studies Project)

4. This is the only semester that this Singapore Studies on changing landscapes of Singapore requires 2 projects with different no. of people working on each project. This makes the formation of groups extremely difficult and it's made even tougher when I always take cross-fac modules alone (due to my weird selection of modules, I think). Quite a relaxing module. In fact, it's a breather... This module also made me pay quite a heavy sum from my general account after an appeal to take this module... And I still had to manually register for the tutorial class since this successful appeal came in quite late...

5. I realised the ultimate impact of 5MC module when I took the C++ subject during my first half of this year. After that, every other module seemed like c**ing clr (don't even attempt to dwell on ** too much, it will not do you any good.) I lost sleepless nights and there was once where I even had to call JX to return from a BBQ at 1am to debug the damn program till 3am. And that darn simple program was debugged by ZW on the following Sunday till 10pm. You can imagine the frustration. Not on me, but on those affected by my disturbance due to C++ code.

6. Every Thursday after lessons during my first semester, I would be able to see quite dark greyish clouds after my lecture as it ends at 8pm. In the second semester, I could not see the sky at all on most Mondays. The street lights were the only light sources in NUS at 9pm when I end my lab sessions. This is after being drained with lessons starting at 8am with non-stop tutorials and lectures till in the evening at 4pm. Never try to squeeze a 'free day' when it's impossible.
p.s.---read: staying back in NUS to run 60,000 simulations.

7. I got my advanced dive card! WHEE! =)

8. Thankfully, Kevin cleaned up the room during the iPhO event so that I didn't need to clear the mess which was in there before I returned the card key. *grinz* Spared me the trouble. Oh shucks. Now I feel as though I owe him one... (-,-)

9. All modules taken this year are exceptionally interesting (less the C++ mod) and I think I found where my interest lies...(finally!)... =)

10. SQ still owes me "Kushing Bo", popcorn and GV Gold Class Movie tickets, etc. (quick tell me what else u owe me)

11. Volunteered myself to welcome our friends from overseas to NUS--- from lecturers to graduate students to undergrads. Then, worked with OSA at SSC to settle the frantic and super busy people there for their student visas, etc.

12. Currently, being a "Bleach" addict NO THANX to Howard. And I'm watiing for the episode 109 which is set to release early next year. So for now, training for my BANKAI (not TBK as SM says). I need the strength for chin-ups... heh.

13. Some nincompoop/numskull/shameless XYZ stole my calculator after I left it in the comp lab accidentally. BL#*DY H@LL. #!()#(@!)$. Curses. Made me feel so handicapped without it.

14. I watched many movies during my second semester and I even had the time to chill out at the pool! =) Cool eh!
------------------------------------------------

And yes, that would round up some of the interesting stuff which I have experienced in 2006. Sadly, I didn't go for holidays this year, unless Malaysia is included... of course, there were many other interesting experiences such as slogging it out during the Singapore "Chilli Crab festival" with a good friend and being bugged by her to attend courses immediately after my examinations... (*hint hint* JOKING ONLY HUH)

It's another 2 weeks before lessons begin again. Argh. and yeah, I had better go get a new calculator and get used to it before using it for calculations next semester.

let me end off with 1 sms convo that took place few weeks back after the examinations:

Kurosaki Ichigo (aka NinjaLZG aka ZG): I got captured by aliens... help help...

(Fictitious person, let's call this person "nutty")

nutty: Haha, like real ah... :p Like got anyone wanna abduct you... I think the aliens not so free also...

p.s. --- again, the above is just to share some humour, dun slaughter NinjaLZG huh, Nutty... :p

food in NUS

Okay, here's a meme I've owed Pandy for ages... I'm hoping that, through this meme, I, as well as others, can know which stalls in NUS canteen are more popular and thus perhaps more worth eating there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instructions:
1) List three stalls (in no particular order) in NUS canteens that you like the most.
2) Explain briefly your choice for each.
3) Tag three people (NUS students and staff... duh!).
4) Link back to the person who tagged you so that backlinks/trackbacks will appear.

1st Choice: The Japanese food in the Arts canteen! It's wonderful and feels like really good food! Even the layout is so neat that I feel as though I'm eating some restaurant food though the ambience shows otherwise. But heck. They are renovating the Arts canteen and by then, I'm pretty sure that it would great to have Japanese food there! I heard the stall has shifted itself to some hall in NUS during this period when the canteen is undergoing renovation.

2nd Choice: The Fish Noodle in Arts canteen! I think the standard is really dropping already ever since they changed the auntie serving the food there, but wells... it's quite healthy, I think.

3rd Choice: Indonesian food in engin. I think this is the only stall in engin worth mentioning. Not bad, but cant eat it everyday. Kinda "heaty". Not as grand as the Riverside Indonesian Restaurant though, but enough to keep NUS staff and students happy.

Okay I tag those who have done before. SO there, All done.

Btw, thanx Pandy for this template what i did was simply cut and paste. =)

Convolution a Joy?

I have honestly never thought of convolution as a joy. But during the study break, Kevin intro me to this Joy Of convolution thing which sort of distrubed me.

Who would think convolution is a joy? Sheesh... It's like saying "who loves torture?"

Sheesh. Oh I just remembered there is such a thing as SM. So ya, maybe there are people who enjoy convolution too.

Gosh, the world is so twisted.

at last it's over!

And with that, I have ended my last drastic paper....

Alrights time to move on with life, another new start another new day... And yeah, I do love the fact that at last, the pace of life (for now) is quite relaxing. For this sem, there have been many interesting stuff that happened... Let's see if I can recall those...

1. I fell asleep in the small lecture room of ST3235 when I sat in front of the class. Actually, it was more like the meditating feeling where I closed my eyes and sat there. And yeah, the lecturer saw me dozing... Not once, not twice, but upteen times... Maybe that's why my final paper for ST3235 felt so difficult. (don't remind me)

2. Lab scores show nothing about how much I know of what I'm doing there and then, especially when I'm doing some experiments which involves concepts yet to be taught. But well... apparently, the GAs and I are are trying to appear "friendly". I write more cheem and he gives more marks :)(somewhere along that line)

3. The module of EE2010 where people think is easy felt as though it was trying to take my life. Not that it's as tough as C++ but... wells... but... err...

4. I never skipped as many lectures as I skipped this sem. This is due to the incompatibility of my "awake" hours and the lecture timings. But sometimes I just drag my body to school, only to feel as though I learnt minimal at the end of the day.

5. The first half of the semester was really great with having such timetable that allowed me to even swim but as the exams drew to a close... such swimming regime became a bonus. =(

6. For the very first time, ST3235 project made me stay in school past midnight on Fridays. Running more than 60,000 simulations, each with at least 1000 trials isn't a joke. I almost slept in the Stats Lab. But thanx to my group members, LX and Dan, I didn't have to run all 60,000 of them. Just perhaps a third of the 60,000.

Running simulation on all computers in the Stats Lab. I decided to slack a little and thanks to the intranet network TV, I could catch Channel 8 shows as I run my simulation. And 1 more thing to add: the computers hang so often that I dread running them again... by the way, I shouldn't be complaining much as LX have ran all her 20,000 simulations based on a wrong Minitab source code which I gave her and had to run them all over again... Sorry!

Nonetheless, this sem has been quite a fruitful one and I think I'm able to say this because... my exams are over once again and here comes the holidays! Gotta get this swiveal (hust - however u speel this) chair from Courts or Ikea this holidays and yeah... I heard Splinter Cell: Double Agent is out. =) sadly it's $60!!! Sheesh! And I'm addicted to such games thanx to u leh QH. dont intro such games to me lar!!!

And yeap, observe new links on the side bar. =)
